Respite Care of San Antonio - San Antonio, TX

On September 20, during the Valero Texas Open at La Cantera, PGA TOUR Wives
Association members spent a fun-filled day playing with preschoolers from Respite Care. Their first stop was the Build-A-Bear Workshop where children built their very own teddy bear and dressed them in golf clothes. From there, everyone went back to Respite Care to enjoy a picnic lunch on the playground and then frosted and decorated teddy bear sugar cookies.

Respite Care of San Antonio's primary objective is to provide respite services to families caring for a child with developmental disabilities. This service provides relief for families caring for a child with disabilities; the families may bring their child for a brief stay to provide a break from the round-the-clock demands of caring for their child with special needs. In 1997, it opened the Davidson Respite House, the state's first and only agency licensed to provide temporary care for children with developmental disabilities who were taken into state protective custody.
