J.
Erik Jonsson Community School EDS Byron Nelson Championship
For the third straight year, we began our week in Dallas with
a visit to the J. Erik Jonsson Community School. The school
is a year-round, accredited private school serving children
3 years old through sixth grade. The staff provides a relationship-centered,
enriched academic environment using creative classroom practices
and engaging parents and the community in educating and nurturing
children. The student body is comprised of primarily Hispanic
children from the local community. Tuition is determined with
families based upon ability to pay with the balance of the
program is cost supported by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas,
the tournament organization that runs the EDS Byron Nelson
Championship.
A student play about a young frog began our visit,
and the we assisted fourth and fifth grade students with various
projects. We always look forward to seeing what they are learning
each year. The fifth grade science experiments are always
a challenge for the students and us- reminding us how long
its been since we've been in school and just how bright these
children really are. Seeing where the monies raised by the
tournament are actually used is very gratifying. We look forward
to next year's trip!
