Whaley Children's Center
Buick Open

On Wednesday, July 30, PGA TOUR Wives Association members joined Buick Open staff at the Whaley Children's Center in Flint, MI.  Upon our arrival, we were greeted by 40 children, ranging in age from 6-17 years old, singing a welcoming song of "Lean on Me!"  After a brief introduction and donation ceremony, we headed to the Whaley Center Gym to get busy!

To help us get to know the children a little better, we spent one-on-one time decorating and painting plant pots.  As you can imagine, the Whaley Center gym was buzzing with conversation, giggles, high-fives with painted hands (for handprints on a planter pot), and an all around fun time.  Many of the children of Whaley, which serves abused and neglected children, shared their personal stories with us and their stories were eye opening!  It is hard not to draw inspiration from such young people that have been through so much.  These resilient kids get up everyday and face the challenges head-on with the aid of the wonderful staff at Whaley Children's Center.  Everyone enjoyed the time we spent at the center and admire and support the wonderful work that the staff at Whaley does for these very special children.
