Springfield Habitat Women's Build
Price Cutter Charity Championship

By: Stacey Schultz

At this year’s Price Cutter Charity Championship, the Nationwide Tour Wives Association got a unique opportunity to help give back.  We were invited to participate in the first ever Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build that took place at the entrance to the tournament.  For seven days, volunteers worked to build a new home for a family in the revitalization of a neighborhood in downtown Springfield.  The unique aspect of this effort was the focus on female labor, with a goal of 85% of the work being completed by women.

What a perfect opportunity for the Nationwide Tour Wives to give back and to show that, with the right tools, we can get anything done!  We had a great turnout for our morning crew and did so much work that we even put the project ahead of schedule.  Thanks to all the ladies who painted trim, primed the interior walls, hung exterior insulation for the siding and painted all the interior doors! We even had Melinda Demsey’s parents and some of our kids pitch in to help. It was a fun and rewarding day!
