Target House BBQ
Stanford St. Jude Championship

On Tuesday, June 3, the PGA TOUR Wives Association and Target Corporation hosted a BBQ at the Target House in Memphis, Tennessee, to benefit the children currently undergoing treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  I felt honored to help plan an event that would bring a couple hours of joy and excitement to children who are battling life-threatening diseases.  The BBQ took place during the week of the Stanford St. Jude Championship and was well attended.  Several different activities were planned for the children to choose from and the PGA TOUR players and their wives were stationed at each making it easy for the children and their families to interact with them.  Titleist was very generous in donating hats and visors for the children, which were quickly adorned with the golfer’s autographs.  The BBQ was delicious, the weather was perfect and for a couple hours, the children of Target House were able to just be kids and enjoy the festivities, friends and family.  As the evening ended, the PGA TOUR Wives proudly presented a check for $7,500 to John Moses, CEO of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 

Subsequent to our event, we learned that in the days leading up to our arrival, Target House families had suffered two painful losses.  The BBQ and activities returned smiles and laughter back to the families and friends at Target House.  A simple event and a few hours of time can make a huge impact on the lives of others in ways we cannot imagine.  Thanks to everyone who supported the children at Target House this year.
