Nationwide Tour Championship

Members of the Nationwide Tour Wives Association had the opportunity to visit the J. Erik Jonsson Community School to meet with representatives from the Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Center team. It offered the wives a unique snapshot into how a community benefits from the funds raised by both the PGA TOUR and Nationwide Tour tournaments.

The Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Center and the J. Erik Jonsson Community School are the sole beneficiaries of the funds raised each year by the tournaments in Dallas. Leaders from the laboratory school, family therapy programs and counselors walked us through the services they provide to struggling families, many free of cost, thanks to the funds raised each year by the HP Byron Nelson Championship and, this year, by the Nationwide Tour Championship.

The therapy provided helps treat difficult children who act out in school, abused and neglected children as well as families and provides support systems to help them. The lab school focuses on teaching the children, who are typically living at poverty level and first generations citizens, the joy and power of an education. The graduation rate of these students far surpasses that of their peer group.

The Nationwide Tour Wives were represented by Jennifer Anderson, Lori Points, Emily Summerhays, Stacey Schultz, Amy Gutschewski and Glen Sharoky. What an inspiring day and program! It was a privilege to see what an impact our organizations have long after the tents, bleachers and pins are gone.
