Ladies Day at the Viking Classic
Madison, MS
By Heather Gove
At the inaugural Ladies Day during the Viking Classic
at Annandale Golf Club, the day began early Thursday morning
with breakfast and a welcome from Tournament Director Randy
Watkins. PGA TOUR Wives Board members Julie Petrovic and Heather
Gove were the guest speakers. Together, they discussed life
and motherhood on TOUR, as well as their involvement in the
PGA TOUR Wives Association and its mission of Giving Back
and took questions about how it was all managed day to day.
"It was wonderful to get the word out about the PTWA
and see the wonderful response from the ladies who attended.
They were all very impressed with how the wives handle life
on the road and that we are striving to make a change in each
town the TOUR visits," said Heather Gove. It was also
an honor to have the Mayor of Madison, Mary Hawkins-Butler
attend the event. We appreciated her support and encouragement
for all of the women participating in the day.
The day
continued with a cooking demonstration by the Deen Brothers,
Bobby and Jamie, at the Viking Culinary Tent and followed
by a wine and cheese tasting. It was standing room only in
Madison and a wonderful day for all the ladies who attended.
We have several fundraising and Volunteer Service Projects in the planning stages.
