Habitat
for Humanity Zurich Classic of New Orleans By Julie Petrovic
Last year in New Orleans, PGA TOUR Wives
Association members helped gut a house devastated by Hurricane
Katrina. This year, we helped Habitat for Humanity begin building
a new house in Musician's Village, a unique group of homes
owned 80% by local musicians. The Association, represented
by Erin Armour, Megan Beck, Michelle Green, Kristy McLachlin,
Sandy Perry, Julie Petrovic, Kristina Putnam and PGA TOUR
player Chris Riley, spent the morning building seven interior
walls. They were joined by a Habitat staff member and a newly
approved home owner, Jerreau Fournett and his wife, who have
to put sweat equity into building someone else's home before
beginning work on their own. "I feel like this was a
full circle event for us," said Julie Petrovic. "Last
year we helped tear something down and this year we helped
build something up. It was great to be a part of this progress."
One might be surprised to see how much progress still needs
to be made in a city that made such wonderful strides. There
are still vast areas of destruction and a lot of building
that needs to be done. Habitat for Humanity has a goal of
building 250 new homes in New Orleans this year. They built
35 last year. If you are interested in volunteering, contact

We have several fundraising and Volunteer Service Projects in the planning stages.
