2011 PGA TOUR Wives Golf Classic The Heritage
By: Sara Moores
The 2011 PGA TOUR Wives Golf Classic was held on Tuesday, April 19, on the beautiful Ocean Course at Hilton Head Island during The Heritage. As PGA TOUR Wives competed in a friendly 9-hole shootout for charity, the TOUR pros did all the heavy lifting on course – carrying golf bags, raking bunkers and tending the flags – all while wearing pink caddy bibs. Our “beach theme” added to the fun with beach pails set up as tee markers, Adirondack chairs in the bunkers and alligators in the water (those, however, were real!).
Tournament Director Angie Oberholser did a tremendous job organizing this event which raised $75,000 for our charities! Our local charity partner, Hilton Head Heroes, were on site as volunteers and were wonderful supporters and partners for the day. At the end of the day, the team of Lorie Haas, Briony Harper, Joanna Saleeby and Rachel Thompson delivered the lowest scores and were the 2011 TOUR Wives Golf Classic winning team.
Thanks to our many sponsors and supporters, listed below, for making this event such a great success. Special thanks to Steve Wilmot, Chris LoBello and Bobby Downs from the tournament and Sea Pines Plantation for helping us to bring this to the Hilton Head Island community; to Bryan Parker and Sentient Jet for their continued support of our charitable initiatives; to PGA TOUR for everything they have done and continue to do to help us achieve our charitable goals and efforts; and, lastly, but certainly not least, to all of our players and their husbands who gave up their afternoon to support this fundraiser.

During the TOUR Championship Presented by Coca-Cola in Atlanta, the tournament hosted a fundraising event, Cocktails for the Cup. Held at the Palm Restaurant in Buckhead, the evening benefited the PGA TOUR Wives Association and the East Lake Foundation. Over 550 people joined PGA TOUR players and spouses including Stewart and Lisa Cink, Billy and Jody Andrade, as well as Ben and Heather Crane, Retief Goosen, Peter Jacobsen and Ryan and Jennifer Palmer.
It was THE place to be on Thursday night and was very well attended with the "who's who" of Atlanta talking golf and enjoying the party atmosphere while helping to raise money for the two charities. Thanks to the following companies and individuals for supporting the evening:

A Green Carpet Affair presented by Sentient Jet The Barclays
By: Sandy Perry
And the winner is..... CHARITY!! On Tuesday evening, August 24, despite the rainy weather, the PGA TOUR STARS were out in Saddle River, New Jersey, as the PTWA hosted a glamorous fundraising event, A Green Carpet Affair, presented by Sentient Jet.
While party guests looked on, Marty Hackel, Fashion Editor for Golf Digest, announced the players and their better halves as they arrived at the beautiful estate of Kevin and Patty Conway. Sandy Perry welcomed all the guests on behalf of the PTWA and Dr. Bob Jones, Director of Children's Aid and Family Services, thanked everyone for coming and told us a bit about the charity. Guests were treated to delicious food, wine and music while they mingled with the TOUR players had their photos taken with the players and spent lots of money on silent and live auction items. Money raised during the evening benefited the local charity, Children's Aid and Family Services, and was earmarked for the new Health Care Center, the first in the nation, to care for and meet the special needs of foster children. The PTWA was thrilled to be partner with this charity and we also received half of all the net proceeds from the evening to spend on needy children and their families in the communities that we visit throughout the year.
We owe a very special thank you to so many for making the night a success. First of all, we want to thank all the residents of the Paramus, New Jersey area who donated to and attended the event during the Barclay's tournament, our first play-off event of 2010. We could not have done it without their generous support. Special mention and thank you to our Premier and Benefactor Patrons who gave so generously just to attend. And to Kevin and Patty Conway, THANK YOU for opening up your lovely home to us and being so patient and kind while we took it over for a few days to prepare for and host the Green Carpet Affair.
We are so appreciative of all the players and their wives who came, we COULD NOT have done it without them!! The guests were so excited to come and meet everyone and their presence at the event drew our large crowd. We certainly hope all the wives and girlfriends enjoyed their special pampering prior to the event! It was so fun for all the girls to gather together at the Ridgewood Country Club to have their hair done by Eric Alt Salon, their make-up applied by Bobbi Brown make-up artists and have the opportunity to wear gorgeous jewelry donated for the evening from Neiman Marcus. Before leaving for the event on charter buses, we all gathered for a group photo to commemorate the event. We wish to thank all of these people who made this part of the evening possible.
There are so many volunteers to thank for making the evening a success. Of course, to the Green Carpet Affair committee, a huge thank you to Amy Wilson, Kelly Bettencourt (Co-chair), Stacy Hoffman and Sara Moores, our Director, and Mary Wieland and Naomi Ingram who donated tons of hours to the cause as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. To the entire Barclay's team, especially Justin Ostiguy and Stacey Whyte we say a huge thank you for all your support and hard work for the months of planning and time given to conference calls to make this event happen and be so successful.
To Liz Mason and her entire team of amazing and dedicated volunteers who serve so unselfishly to benefit the Children's Aid and Family Services, we really could not have done it without you! The ladies of the Junior Women's League of Bergen County who were such a help the day of the event in stuffing goody bags and keeping things organized throughout the evening. Thanks to Sarah Ricca, and her team for their help.
And of course we cannot forget our Title Sponsor, Sentient Jet. We are so appreciative of their continued support of the PTWA! Not only did they sponsor the evening, but they donated 2 hours of private flight for the live auction, sponsored the Green Martini Bar and candy, luggage tags and sharpies for the guest's goody bags. So, thank you to Kirsten, Bryan and Kevin!!

Media coverage was great for A Green Carpet Affair and we thank the PGA TOUR Photographer, Chris Condon, and the Golf Channel, especially, Scott Rude, for their time and talents. Overall, what an amazing evening that I was thrilled to be a part of! Every time I'm involved with and participate in a PTWA event, I am always awed by our amazing ladies. You care so much for others and have such great hearts full of love for children; you make me proud to be a part of this organization.
Shake, Rattle & Bowl!
presented by Sentient Jet The Honda Classic
By: Brenda Calcavecchia
During The Honda Classic, PGA TOUR Wives Association members packed up their golf clubs and grabbed a bowling ball to “Shake, Rattle & Bowl!” at Jupiter Lanes. This unique fundraising event was filled with fun and laughter while the participants enjoyed a retro bowling tournament, wearing bowling shirts, cat eye glasses and soda jerk hats! Thirty members, known as the “Strikes,” teamed up with their husbands/significant others, the “Spares,” to raise money for charity. Local radio personalities, Sally Severaid and Mo Foster, of the Mo and Sally Show, joined in on the fun, which at the end of the day, raised over $38,000.
The level of bowling talent varied. While there were some with competitive spirits, there were also beginners and a few who exhibited their goofy side when it came to getting the ball down the alley! Awards were presented in the following categories:
High Rollers - Highest team score Biggest Shoes to Fill – Highest individual score Smallest Shoes to Fill – Lowest individual score Gutter Girl – Bowler with the most gutter balls Best Team Spirit – Most enthusiastic team Pin Head Award – Most geeky bowler
Our sincere thanks are extended to the following companies for sponsoring this event: Sentient Jet, The Honda Classic, PGA TOUR, Charles Schwab, Gaylord Sports Management, Heritage Classic Foundation, Kodak, Tiffany & Co., Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Onshore Construction & Development and Medical Communication Specialists, Inc. And, a special thanks to Jupiter Lanes, Nick’s Tomato Pie, Ken Kennerly, Ed McEnroe and Kelly Blanchard from The Honda Classic. Without the support of these companies and individuals, this event would not have been possible.
Thanks to our strikes and spares who participated and helped make this event such a huge success.
