MISSION STATEMENT

PGA TOUR Wives Association, Inc. is a Florida not-for-profit corporation organized to render support and provide assistance to needy children and their families through the means of charitable events.

BACKGROUND

The Association was incorporated in 1988 by wives of professional golfers on the PGA TOUR.  PGA TOUR tournaments are major fundraisers for charities, and the wives recognized that they were in a unique position to be an effective source of funds and support for these charities and the children they benefit.  Since inception, the Association has expanded its membership to include Nationwide Tour wives, significant others of PGA TOUR and Nationwide Tour members, and individuals and companies who support the Associations' charitable endeavors.  The PGA TOUR Wives Association has given back to our golfing communities through personal time and monetary contributions to child related charities.  In addition to fundraising, members participate in Volunteer Service Projects, performing a myriad of services ranging from Habitat builds to cooking in soup kitchens to playing with hospitalized children in communities where tournaments are held.

FUNDRAISERS

Each year, the Association conducts many different fundraisers including memorabilia auctions, wine tastings, gourmet golf events, fashion shows, raffles, cookbook sales and its most popular fundraiser, the PGA TOUR Wives Golf Classic. The Classic is one of the most enjoyable activities for Association members and friends. At this golf tournament, members play golf with their husbands acting as caddies. It is a lot of fun and provides a very memorable time to all who attend.

CHARITY RECIPIENTS

The recipients of funds raised by the Association are scattered across the country. In addition to substantial annual contributions to a host of charitable organizations the Association has the ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including hurricane and flood relief and other instances of natural disaster.

While the membership of the Association varies from year to year, its commitment to making a difference in the lives of needy children stands strong. The wonderful and dedicated members of the Association, past and present, have reached deep into their resources to balance the demands of family, work and travel and have given generously of themselves to realize their ideals.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS/OFFICERS

Amy Wilson
AMY WILSON - President

Amy Wilson, wife of Mark Wilson, has been involved with the PGA TOUR Wives Association for the past 7 years. Prior to holding the position of President, Amy served as the VP of Fundraising. She brings a unique perspective to the Board having worked 5 years as a consultant with Accenture. While at Accenture, she specialized in Change Management within the Retail/Merchandise Market Unit. Amy left consulting to start her own small business; turned a hobby of decorative painting into a retail operation. This allowed her to continue working while traveling with her husband on the PGA TOUR. Amy is passionate about giving back to the tournament communities that embrace the players and their families year after year. As President, Amy looks to grow the association in reach and scope. She wants to best facilitate the connection between PGA TOUR Wives’ contacts and those in need.

SARA HOLMES - VP, Membership

Sara Holmes, wife of J.B. Holmes, has been a member of the PGA TOUR Wives Association for 2 years and has participated in many charity events throughout those years. Sara is honored to serve on the Board of Directors as Vice President of Membership. She is responsible for enrolling members and setting up all Board and membership meetings, including the annual welcome meeting that is held in Pebble Beach at the Spanish Bay Resort. On her weeks off from traveling, Sara enjoys working out, cooking new meals for her friends and playing putt-putt with her husband. She also enjoys having company at her Orlando, FL home, as well as going back to Nashville to visit her family. Her main goal while serving on the Board is to get more participation at the charity events and create a stronger bond between the wives.

She practiced with firms in San Francisco, New York City and San Diego, where some of her clients included Microsoft, MasterCard, Sara Lee and Diageo. Her experience with National and local media has helped create a strong media presence for the PGA TOUR Wives Association. This has allowed the public to become aware of all the good work the Association does in each city that the PGA TOUR visits. Stacy looks forward to continuing to elevate the media coverage for the Association, as well as be a part of the overall Board to help lead this incredible group of women to do what they are so passionate about – helping others.

So in 2005 Shauna was introduced to the PGA TOUR Wives Association and fell in love with the organization so much that she decided to be Charity Coordinator that year. Troy then graduated up to the PGA TOUR in 2006 and Shauna became a steady participant at PGA TOUR Wives fundraisers and events. One goal of Shauna's is to increase awareness about the needs of the communities that the PGA TOUR visits. Shauna also looks forward to encouraging the members of the PGA TOUR Wives Association to reach into their home communities and get involved wherever the need may be.
